Why test with the “Sample” first
It is important to try-out and test the mobile “Sample” on your mobile device before purchasing the mobile version of the handbook.
Not all mobile devices support navigation elements (hyperlinks & buttons/arrows) so you need to test the sample on your mobile device.
This is a problem that Adobe (the creators of the pdf format) have been aware of for years - but have done nothing about it.
I can overcome this by purchasing their software for £20 per month forever-and-ever - without a fairytale ending. It is not in their interest to remedy this problem.
However
If the navigation elements in the sample do not work on your mobile device - don’t despair, I’m working on a work-around to this deliberate obstruction.
Also, if you’ve had this problem before - with links in pdf files you’ve received, which did not work - now you know why.
If the navigation elements do work on your mobile it is because of the combination of operating system, the make & model of your device and the app or program you use to read pdf files. This could be important to know, should you ever decide to change your phone. Ask “Do pdf links work on this phone”. And get the retailer to prove it.
